G-TECH Headquarters

BuildRI announced that the Rhode Island building trades reached agreement with construction manager Gilbane Building Company for a project labor agreement on construction of the new G-TECH corporate headquarters.

The G-TECH project, which is the first office building to be built in Providence in 16 years, is a 10-story, 210,000 square foot, $80 million building that will be located at the corner of Francis Street and Memorial Boulevard, in the heart of downtown Providence. The owners entered into the agreement because they “determined that the facility must be completed within a specified and limited timeframe”.

According to BuildRI's executive director and general counsel, Gregory Mancini: “with our unmatched resume of projects, it is easy to see why this owner decided that using all union contractors and workers was in their best business interests. It will enable the project to be completed as soon as possible and as efficiently as possible.”

BuildRI is an equal partnership among the seventeen (17) unions of the building trades and their contractors. They participated in the negotiations for this agreement.
