Kent County Courthouse

On July 22, 2004 J.L. Marshall & Sons, entered into a project labor agreement for construction of the 200,000 sq. ft. new Kent County Courthouse.

Initially, an independent study committee set up by the State of Rhode Island Judiciary decided that implementing a PLA on this project was in the taxpayers’ best interests . This determination was subsequently undermined by undue political influence and the State decided not to implement the recommendation.

However, J.L. Marshall & Sons, Inc,, the contractor that was awarded the project, ultimately came to the same conclusion as the State and decided to implement a PLA.
