Dunkin Donuts Center Expansion

On February 22, 2006 the Gilbane Building Company authored a Study recommending implementation of a project labor agreement for the State of Rhode Island Convention Center Authority's $50 million Dunkin Donuts Center expansion project. BuildRI contributed a portion of the information reported in the Study.

This is the third time an independent committee studied whether or not to implement a PLA on a particular project in Rhode Island and each time these committees recommended implementing a PLA

Shortly thereafter the issuance of the foregoing report, the Authority formally adopted the Study's recommendations, and on May 18, 2007 the Rhode island Building Trades and Gilbane Building co. entered into a PLA for the construction of this project.

According to the Study, the project itself consists of "several upgraded spectator and athlete amenitites as well as general updating of the facility." Enhancements include reconfiguration of the seating bowl and sightlines to increase available seating, twenty (20) new luxury suites, a club room, improved locker rooms, and improved box office and concession areas. It also includes additional exterior pedestrian walkways, an overhead bridge connecting the Center to the Convention Center and exterior plazas

Construction commenced in May of 2007 and should be completed in early 2008.
