COMMUNITY PARTNERS

While there are numerous community organizations BuildRI is involved with (i.e. Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Station Fire Memorial Foundation, Salute Military Golf Association, Elmwood Little League, North Hockey, and numerous others), for over ten (10) years we have been helping to create meaningful employment opportunities for local low income adults from the state’s urban communities through Building Futures. Building Futures’ pre-apprenticeship program connects you to a new career in a construction registered apprenticeship program. Building Futures help candidates get the training, support, and certifications to launch a career as a Registered Apprentice in Rhode Island’s Building and Construction Trades.  Building Future graduates earn money while they learn a trade and they enjoy great pay, full benefits, a pension, and paid education and training.

BUILDING FUTURES

Executive Director: Andrew Cortes

Building Futures is a domestic non-profit tax-exempt corporation that designes and provides pre-apprenticeship training to prepare local residents to enter building trade apprenticeships.  It has partnered with the trade unions of Rhode Island Building and Construction Trades Council and their signatory contractors to increase access to training and employment for low income residents so that the future workforce demands of the construction industry will be met by local residents.
